Education
Illiteracy has become a dreadful problem in our life. To remove the problem, children above five years old should be sent to schools. Free books and educational materials should be supplied to the children for the poor families. Teachers should be generous and sympathetic to the infants. The illiterate guardians should be taught the necessity and value of learning.

Influence Of Western Civilization On Bangladeshi Society

Civilization means an advanced and organized state of human social development. It exposes a society or a country. its culture and its way of life during a particular period of time. Basically, a country or a nation is known by its civilization. The influence of western civilization is the most talked topic. Western culture is intruding into our culture in a very alarming way. This intrusion of Western culture has both good and bad effect on our society. Western civilization has introduced us with the people, society, education history and culture of the whole western world. It helps us to make a comparative study between western civilization and ours and to judge the standard of our culture. It also helps to enrich our civilization by accepting the good things of western civilization.

Western Civilization
Western  Civilization
The disadvantages of western civilization for the society of Bangladesh is very alarming. It has already created bad effect on our youngsters. The young people are trying to imitate western gross and vulgar culture forgetting our own culture. If this continues, our won culture and tradition will be abolished soon. As this is the age of globalization, we will not be able to discard western civilization. Rather we should try to imitate what is good in western civilization and give up what bad.

The Harmful Effect Of The Use And Production Of Polybags

The use and production of polybags do a great deal of harm to our environment and drain gage system, air, water and soil. In our country, thousands of pieces of polythene's are being used everyday. This huge amount of polythene is neither being re- used nor being decomposed by natural way. Most of the bags are just thrown out after its first use. They find their way into the drains. Then the polybags block our drainage system, barricade regular flow of water, obstruct the rainwater flowing into the drains etc. As a result low- lying areas in the cities frequently go under water. Flood occurs every now and then. Whenever, these polybags go inside the cultivable land, it loses fertility and crops do not grow in such lands.

The Harmful Effect Of The Use And Production Of Polybags
Remove polybags
Polybags remain unchanged like a curtain through which nothing can pass. So the land can not be irrigated. Polybags are burnt to get rid of its direct effect but some emitting from polyfire pollutes our air in a massive way. Such pollution is very harmful for human health. Because of huge use of polythene our traditional jute and cloth bags have lost their market. They are now out of use. Jute and cloth bags can be used several times whereas polybags are used only once. So polybags are waste of money. So government should ban the use and production of polybags making law.

Slums In Every City Of Bangladesh

Slum dwellers are rootless people. Actually they are rootless and they have to take shelter in slums under different circumstances. They live there in an inhuman condition. They are deprived of all kinds of human rights. About 80% of the slum dwellers suffer from hunger, malnutrition and different kinds of diseases. As a result, many of them die a premature death and the others light with death. They live in a society of lawlessness and violence. They are made to involve in different anti social activities like hijacking, smuggling, stealing, drug use, child trafficking etc.

Slums In Every City
Slums In Every City
Besides, they are exploited by so called political leaders for organizing hartals, picketing, damaging vehicles and destroying public properties. The government and non government welfare organizations should come forward to rehabilitate them. Only then we can hope that they will get rid of this dark life and will have a new life back.

It lays eggs on standing or stagnant water. This germ spread all over the world through the sea vessels from Africa. Adies also lays its eggs on standing water in the plastic bottles, plastic contain made pots, lyres, green coconut plates, polythene etc. If adies mosquito bites a healthy man, virus may get into his body or blood. The adies mosquito's biting cause troubles in the bowel movement of a person. If the symptom of this disease is found, we must consult with a doctor at once and take medicine as per his advice. Medicine of paracitamol group is prescribed for dengue fever. This fever lasts not more than seven days. And the temperature stands up to 104- 105 degree at best. The victim must drink much water and take a lot of vitamin C.

Carried Diseases
Carried Diseases
In Bangladesh this dengue fever has broken out in an epidemic form. The conscious people both government & non- government organizations have taken programmes for making the illiterate people conscious of it through various mass media. Adies, a kind of mosquito carries virus of this disease. So, the mosquito killing adventure is going on throughout the whole country. We should keep or make our dwelling house neat and clean for prevention of this disease.

Earthquake Of Bangladesh

Bangladesh is a land of natural calamity. People here survive fighting against the natural disasters like flood, cyclone, drought etc. Recently people have become very much concerned about a calamity and that is earthquake. Earthquake means the terrible shake of the earth. It leaves a vast trail of devastation and brings untold sufferings. The after effects of an earthquake can not be described in words. The whole air of the affected area is filled with the heart rending cries of the people who get narrowly escaped for their dear and near ones. No rescue work is possible as there is destructive fall out all around. The sufferings of the people beggar description. Only vast trail of devastation is seen. Houses and buildings are collapsed. People become shelter less. They have to starve. The most pathetic scene is that there are many dead bodies under the piles of havoc. They decompose and stink foul smell. IT vitiates the whole surroundings. The volunteers are seen pulling out the decomposed bodies out of the broken buildings and bricks. Really it is a pathetic scene. It is too impossible for a man of flesh and blood IT is too impossible for a an of flesh and blood to describe the scene. Today the people of Bangladesh specially the educated people are very much aware of earthquake. The people living in the multi storeyed building are also are also aware of earthquakes because they have come to know that most of the building in Bangladesh are not built according to earthquake resistant building code.

To reduce the loss the following precautions as safety measures against earthquake can be taken.
(i) An earthquake resistant building code should be made which should be followed as mandatory. (ii) The RAJUK should be very much strict in giving plans for the construction of multi-storeyed buildings. (iii) Experts should mark the fault lines.

Sound Pollution Of Bangladesh

Today sound pollution is one of the talked topics of the day. It has reached an unbearable level. The unnecessary use of powerful vehicular horns is the main. Source of sound pollution in the City. Besides, faulty vehicles, construction sites, loud speaker and thousands of workshops let out loud noises round the clock. In the city, millions of people especially children are exposed to sound pollution. This sound pollution will damage children are exposed to sound pollution. This sound pollution will damage children power of hearing.

Sound pollution is so much harmful that it can cause a wide range of malfunctions in the human body including heart attack, high- blood pressure, chronic depression, respiratory disorders etc. We should take necessary measures to control sound pollution. By developing public awareness and careful town planning sound pollution can be controlled. Strict law should be enforced regarding sound pollution. Use of hydraulic horns should be banned strictly.

Water Pollution Of Bangladesh

Water, an important element of the human environment, is essential for human and plant life. It is next to air. Water can be polluted in many ways. Farmers use chemical fertilizers and insecticide in their fields to grow more food. The rain and floods wash away some of the chemicals. They get mixed with river water, canal water and pond water. Mills and factories pollute water by throwing the waste materials and unsold products into the rivers and canals. Steamers, motor launches and even sail boats can pollute water by throwing oil, food waste and human waste into the rivers and canals. Unsanitary latrines in the countryside standing on the bands of the rivers and canals cause water pollution. Clean water is safe for use and polluted water is harmful for man.
As Like

Water Pollution
Water Pollution
Water pollution can be prevented in many ways. First of all we should make the people aware of the fact that water is next to air. It is called life. So chemical fertilizer and pesticide should not be allowed to mix with river water, canal water and pond water. Mills and factories should not throw the waste materials and unsold should not throw oil, food waste and human waste into the rivers and canals. Unsanitary latrines in the countryside should not be built on the bands of the rivers and canals. In fire awareness should be created in the public.

Deforestation Of Bangladesh

Deforestation means cutting down trees in large number. The causes of deforestation are many. Bangladesh is the most densely populated country in the world. Its population is much more in proportion to its area. This huge number of population needs more shelter, agricultural land, fuel, furniture etc. For all these reasons people cut trees. Moreover there are some dishonest people who cut trees in our forests to make money. They effects of deforestation are too many to describe. This destruction disturbs our ecological balance. The existence of animals are going to be threatened. Due to deforestation carbon dioxide is increasing worldwide. As a result, the world is becoming warmer. The sea level is rising and many parts of the world is going to be engulfed by the sea in recent future. On the other hand, new areas of the world are turning into deserts as a result of deforestation. The removal of trees causes birds and other animals living on them to leave the place. It also causes serious damage to the soil, as trees give protection to soil as well. In the end, the soil gets sediment in the river bed and causes frequent floods. So, if we destroy trees at random.

One day the country will turn in a great desert. All living animals and birds will not find any food or shelter to live in. They will be destroyed. There will be no rain and as a result our agriculture will face a great crisis. The temperature will rise and it will cause green house effect. The country will be unsuitable for living and various natural calamities like flood, drought, storm etc. will visit our country. Tree plantation program should be extended throughout the country.

Acid Rain Of Bangladesh

Acid rain is a such kind of rain which contains harmful chemicals. But in severely polluted areas, rain can be as acidic as the acids of lemon juice or vinegar. This rain, which is very acidic, can cause damage to trees, lakes, wild life, building and human health. Acid rain also damages to human health. Breathing in chemicals can harm people. It causes chest illness. When acid rain causes the release of chemicals and metals into drinking water, it polluted the water. That is how acid rain affects drinking water. Fading of the colors of the glass is a common result of the acid rain. It is very defected for human body. All of these approaches probably have a role to play, but all have some disadvantages which will form a research agenda for the next few years.

Acid Rain
Origin of Acid Rain
In the last thirty years some 1000 years old stained glass windows have been damaged by acid rain. The damage of Big Building indicates that acid pollution is occurring in the developing world.

Waste Of Management Of Bangladesh

Waste of rubbish is what we throw away everyday. It includes everything from unwanted old cars to cigarette packets. As the amount of waste is growing rapidly all over the world and polluting the environment, the time has come to think about it very seriously. We cannot altogether get rid of our waste, but  a proper management of it can certainly reduce it. If we think of burning, burying, recycling and thus reducing our waste. We can save our environment to a large extent. We can use some waste as fuel. We can use vegetable waste to make compost to improve our soil.

In many countries it is now quite normal to collect old bottle and cans and recycle them. More and more companies should come forward to promote greater recycling and changes in consumption patterns to reduce the amount of rubbish and help people. So we should do the right thing at the right moment because timely action brings for us great success and saves us from a lot of troubles. Moreover, we know prevention is better than cure. So it is high time to take proper steps and necessary measure to raise awareness about the problem of waste management.

Natural Disasters Of Bangladesh

When a storm revolves violently round a centre, it is termed a cyclone. It moves at a high speed ranging form forty to one hundred or more kilometers per hour. A cyclone varies in diameter from eighty to one hundred or more kilometers. During the last four years, several devastating cyclones swept over Bangladesh and cause immense harm to the people. This extreme weather condition is a curse, especially to the inhabitants of the coastal regions of Bangladesh. A cyclone may occur any time and at any place. The violent types of cyclone usually hit the tropics. The cyclone of Bangladesh generally originates from the Bay of Bengal, and blows towards that land. It is often accompanied by thunders and heavy showers. Before a cyclone commences unbearable heat is felt for a few days. Then suddenly one day the sky becomes terribly dark with clouds and strong winds begin to blow with flashes of lightning and the rumbling of thunders. Thus a terrible situation is created that lasts for a few hours. It causes a great havoc. A lot of people and other animals die. Dwelling houses are blown away. The tidal bore and the heavy showers wash away the stores of food stuff and leave the marks of terrible damage.

The cyclone is usually followed by scarcity of food and out break of various diseases such as cholera, dysentery, fever etc. Which spread all over the affected areas. However, the great loss caused by cyclones can be reduced to a substantial extent. Using modern technology's of weather forecast. Prior warning can be given to the people who are likely to be affected by the cyclone. This people and their domestic animals can be shifted to the cyclone shelters. Moreover, a quick relief, medical treatment and essential medicines should be made available to the affected people just after a terrible cyclone.

Radio As a Medium Of Education In Bangladesh

The child learns to talk as it learns languages, singing and many other things by listening to others by listening to others. Educational is broadcasting is only a shape of this idea. History is presented in the form of dramas, geography is told in the form of travels and poetry is recited. This creates a special interest in the heart of the children.Radio has conquered the distance of time and space. So the students can hear over the radio and know the speeches of the great men who aren't in their midst. The talks of the experts, either foreign or home, may be relayed from different centres.

Education of the masses may be carried on successfully through radio. The illiterate people can thus know many things regarding health, agriculture and other objects of their household affairs. The businessmen can know many things through radio regarding their business affairs. Army education is also a great boon of radio. But we have great difficulty in this respect. Most of the schools of our country have no receiving sets. Government should chalk out plans to provide the schools with receiving sets.

Cyclones In Bangladesh

The cyclone is a severe calamity. It visits Bangladesh almost every year. It lasts for a short time but is more terrible than the flood. It comes by surprise and passes over very quickly. The whole area over which it passes are affected very badly. The cyclone blows very hard in a circular motion and moves round the center. It passes with a great fury and changes its motion gradually or suddenly.

The low depression in the Bay of Bengal is the cause of cyclones in Bangladesh. This may take place far away from the main land. But it approaches the main land at a great speed and lashes the the trees, houses and every thing in it's way.

Before the cyclone begins, there appear patches of clouds together with gusty winds. As the cyclone approaches clouds pass very swiftly in the sky. The wind becomes gradually harder and grows more and more forceful and violent. When the cyclone actually appears, the whole sky looks like a dark sheet of clouds. The stormy wind passes very speedily with a deafening sound. It rains in torrents. Roofs of houses are blown away. Trees of all sizes are uprooted, boat, launches and ships capsize. These sink down with goods and passengers. The cyclone is a horror to all. It causes great loss of life and property.

Floods Effect In Bangladesh

Floods in Bangladesh do great damage to crops. Sometimes houses are swept away, trees are uprooted and callte are destroyed in large numbers. During the last a few years several floods swept over our country. They caused great havoc to lives and properties and brought about untold sufferings to the people who survived. The floods of 1954 were the severest of all recorded in history. Many people died and many were rendered homeless. Their misery knew  no bounds. Devastating floods also hit Chittagong in1961, Barisal in 1965, Rangpur and Dinajpur in 1968 and almost all the districts in1970, 1974 and 1988.

A well- planned irrigation system will go a long way to reduce the extent and fury of such terrible floods. Embankments are being constructed to put a stop to their frequent visit. Our beneficent Government shall surely find out permanent ways and means to check them.

Floods In Bangladesh

It is popularly believed that flood is a curse and it comes as a punishment when we sin against Allan. but excessive rainfall is the real cause of flood. In the rainy season it generally rains without break. Pools, canals and rivers are all filled up and can hold no more water. So it overflows the banks and stands on the ground. As a result fields and roads go under water to the great hardship of all. This is called flood.

Our Bangladesh is a plain, low land. Many rivers wind over her bosom. So floods visit our country almost every year. When the monsoon begins there is excessive rainfall. The rivers swell to an alarming extent. They overflow their bands and wash away the lands on both sides. The sudden melting of snow or the sudden visit of tidal waves makes the rivers overflow and causes floods. Again they overflow their banks, causes floods and damage crops. They send water in the villages and as a result, fields and road go under water.

The Peasants Of Bangladesh

Bangladesh is mainly an agricultural country. Her people directly or indirectly depend upon agriculture for their living. So most of them are peasants.

The peasants of our country are generally uneducated. They are religious and God fearing by nature. They are simple in their habits and have sympathy for one another. There was a day when the economic condition of our peasants was good. They lived happily and peacefully. But with the growth of towns the state of things has changed for the worse. Most of them lead poor lives. Their children are ill- clad and ill- fed. They have no means to send their children to schools. They fall ill and die in numbers without diet and medicine. The peasants of our country have to work all day long. They till the land and make it ready for sowing seeds of different crops. They pull out the weeds from the land under crops. Sometimes they have to keep busy whit their work from morning till night and cannot make time to have their midday meals. With all this they are poor and illiterate. Though they are the feeders of the people, their children very often go without food.

Swanivar Bangladesh

Swanivar is self reliance. It is the habit of doing one's work without depending upon the help of others. So it is the greatest of all the manly virtues. Allah has given us brain to make plans and programmes. He has also made us strong to work and succeed. So we should never depend upon others for help.

A nation should also try to be self sufficient. For that purpose it should make the best use of its man power and resources. It should be ashamed of depending on other nations for help. It should make suitable plans and programmes to increase agricultural products to the maximum. It should also make the best use of the raw materials in mills and factories.

Bangladeshis a densely peopled country. She suffers greatly from the shortage of food stuffs and other necessaries. But she has fertile land. She can till them following the modern method method of cultivation. Thus she can raise maximum produce from her lands. She has follow lands. She can bring them under plough and grow crops.

Environment Evils Of Smking

Smoking is a dangerous addiction. If anyone is habituated to smoking, he cannot give it up. In course of time he becomes a chain smoker and cannot do with out it even for a few hours. One Puff cigarette smoke contains many injurious matters like nicotine, arsenic, carbon monoxide, methyl alcohol and so on.

Nicotine constricts blood vessels and impedes the flow of blood pressure and result in heart attack. Arsenic and tobacco tar are cancer causing. Tobacco tar gathers in a mass inside the lungs, slackens their actions and finally destroys them. The effect of cigarette smoke also leads to the same results. Carbon monoxide drives oxygen out of the red blood cells. Besides, smoking can cause irritation in the eye, offend the nose and unsettle the mind. The stench of cigarette smoke is repulsive to non smokers. A non- smoker of twenty five is likely to live at least ten years longer than a smoker of that age. It is almost certain that smoking tobacco products are dangerous. It may cause cancer, heart attack, chronic bronchitis and some other diseases. So it should be given up and it can be done with a bit of determination.

Techinical Education Of Bangladesh

Technical education Bangladesh is the education which gives practical training in some art and craft. It is different from what is taught in our general schools and colleges. General education doesn't include any manual work. But technical education is some sort of training in arts, crafts and science. A student of a technical institute acquires practical knowledge in the branch or course in which he is a student. Thus he makes him fit to work as a mechanic or a carpenter or an electrician as the case may be. As a result his position is secured in future life as he can easily find a profession to earn his living.

The utility of technical education is really very great in an underdeveloped country like Bangladesh. Our country has plenty of natural resources which are not yet explored and utilized. So we are in great need of technical hands. In order to meet this need, we should give more importance to technical education and establish a good number of technical  institutes at all the important places. Unless and until we are able to give technical education to our young boys and girls, our national development is not at all possible. The sooner we take necessary step in this respect, the better.
