Rainy Season Of Bangladesh

Ashar and Srabon are said to compose the rainy season. But the hot and wet weather that characterizes these two months lasts for a longer period. There is a heavy rainfall during the whole period.

The monsoon blows from direction on of the Bay of Bengal all through the season. Over cast sky is common. Heavy and incessant rain is frequent. Sometimes the sky remains overcast for many days. Sometimes it rains heavily and at other times it drizzles. During this season rivers began to swell, overflow their bands and water covers the fields. Cultivators become very busy. They harvest their paddy reap their jute.

Sometimes heavy rains causes flood. Water rises and overflows fields and human habitation. It carries away crops and cattle and washes away homesteads. Heavy rain thus works havoc and brings untied sufferings to people. In this reason, boats are chief means of communication in the country. Most women in the country visit their relatives, because the remotest parts are accessible by boats.
