The Rivers Of Bangladesh

Bangladesh is a land of rivers. No other country in the world is blessed whit so many rivers. They play an important role in her country. In fact rivers are the main source of her wealth and prosperity. The rivers of Bangladesh are fed by the rain water. So they as sue a small figure in summer. But in the rainy season they become very large. Some of them look like big arms of sea. Then their waters overflow the band and run over the fields. The chief rivers of Bangladesh are the Padma, the Meghna, the Jamuna and the Brahmaputra.

Bangladesh is an agricultural country. She required a good deal of water for the bumper growth of her crops. Her rivers help her raise crops in plenty. So paddy and jute grow in Bangladesh in plenty. To speak the truth the economic prosperity of Bangladesh mostly depends of her rivers.

Rivers are important waterways of Bangladesh. Steamers, Launches and boats ply through them all the year round. We go by river from one place to another. Our goods are also carried to different places by river. Rivers are not unmixed good. They overflow their banks, cause flood and damage corps. They send water in the villages and as a result, fields and roads go under water. Thus they often bring about miseries and misfortunes.
